About the model: This is a High-fidelity neonatal mannequin to represent Type C Tracheoesophageal fistula, which is one of the most common congenital anomalies seen in major pediatric surgical centers around the world. The most common form of TEF, type C is when the upper portion of the esophagus ends in a blind pouch, and the lower portion is connected to the trachea by a tracheoesophageal fistula. About 85% of babies born with TEF have this type.
Outcome: It allows participants to develop neonatal thoracoscopic skill-sets in a safe, controlled environment away from the risky settings.
A realistic model: The model has been developed in association with renowned research lab "SMITA Research Lab" at IIT Delhi and pediatric surgeons at All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi after extensive research.With a target to simulate feel and properties of real organs, detailed research was carried out on developing novel materials and compositions. It was earlier launched as version 1.0 and then 2.0 with various changes based on etc feedback. Now it has been further improved and launched in Dec 2024 as new version 3.0.
Cost-Effective: The model can be repeatedly used by one or many users for developing sufficient skills before attempting surgeries on real patients.
